A group calling itself “The Blue Wave” has written to the FIA complaining against what it cites is the irregular treatment of Fernando Alonso by McLaren.

The Blue Wave has specified eleven separate events over the course of the season. These include the now famous incident at the Monaco Grand Prix in which Hamilton attempted to overtake Alonso for the lead in defiance of ‘team orders’ not to.

Blue Wave allege that by complaining to the FIA and the British press Hamilton “provoked” the investigation against Alonso and that this shows McLaren’s favouritism of Hamilton over Alonso. They also claim this caused “serious damage” to Alonso and his career and, in support, they collected more than 133,000 signatures from 77 countries over the course of 15 days via an online petition.

“The team took no measure whatsoever towards L. Hamilton, and did not support F. Alonso,” says the group.
