2008 will see a new challenge for drivers and teams in Formula One after it was confirmed that Singapore’s new circuit is to stage a first for any Grand Prix – a floodlit night race held in September.

The season starts in Australia in March, ends in Brazil in November and, whilst the US GP drops off the schedule, new Grands Prix street races in Valencia and Singapore extend the F1 calendar to 18 races with Canada and France remaining despite previously being in doubt.

The British Grand Prix at Silverstone has been given a date of 6 July and the German Grand Prix returns at Hockenheim on 20 July.
